MAAD for Christian Dior Grey Zone

In the world of brand events, few people are lucky to land a gig for the likes of Christian Dior. And yet, MAAD took on one of the highest profile parties of the year at the Dior ‘Grey Zone’ Pop-Up Launch Party in Los Angeles on April 12, 2023.

Christian Dior’s timeless and androgynous fragrance Gris Dior has adorned wearers with its floral yet woody aura for ten years. Now, the new #dareingrisdior campaign is both a revival and a reflection of the same iconic identity embodied by the House of Dior’s signature grey timbre. In addition to the new campaign, Dior also launched The Grey Zone, a pop-up art gallery created with the help of five brand-selected artists charged with filling the 8,000 square-foot space at 8175 Melrose Avenue with Dior-inspired art installments consisting of paint, light, and sound. 

To commemorate this immersive and emblematic experience, Dior’s Grey Zone hosted a launch party with a live art demonstration, a 25-foot 3D art mural, and a touch-sensitive light garden. The guest list included faces of the #dareingrisdior campaign, like Jenna Ortega, Thuso Mbedu, and Fai Khadra, as well as notable celebrities and influencers such as Kiernan Shipka, Alexandra Daddario, Liza Koshy, and Lucy Hale.

The fashion and entertainment were on-point for this illustrious event. Guests arrived dressed in their favorite Dior fashions, fittingly in shades of grey. Champagne and caviar tots graced the menu, and MAAD provided the musical backdrop.

MAAD’s set consisted of thoughtfully selected tracks from R&B, Afrobeat, Hip Hop, and Rock genres. And no party is complete without a few crowd-favorite throwbacks specially requested by the Client: Britney Spears, Toni Braxton, and TLC. MAAD’s performance created the perfect ambiance for the multi-sensory art experiences surrounding guests at The Grey Zone.

MAAD’s turntable prowess kept everyone vibing until the very end, and then some, including an impromptu dance party initiated by the incomparable Thuso Mbedu. As the evening came to a close, partygoers were gifted a limited edition Gris Dior and departed with all the scents, sights, and sounds still swirling in their memories.
